Looking Beyond the Now: Exploratory Foresight for Theological Educators
Welcome to this month’s edition of the Theological Educators Exploratory Foresight Report. A resource created specifically for theological educators committed to forming leaders who can navigate complexity with courage, conviction, and creativity.
This report is produced by the Futuring Hub for Theo-Futures Research, an initiative of the MacRae Centre for Christian Faith and Culture, housed at Acadia Divinity College. The Hub exists to help Christian leaders and theological educators engage the future, not by attempting to predict it, but by exploring it faithfully, imaginatively, and theologically.
Each month, this report draws on the Hub’s ongoing Theo-Futures Foresight research, and provides a more in depth curated, evidence-based set of signals of change shaping theological education and the Church. While not exhaustive or definitive, this selection is meant to be exploratory, and an open invitation:
- To grow in awareness.
- To stretch theological imagination.
- To feel a sense of hopeful agency.
- To consider and discern possible spaces of innovation and creativity.
The intention is not to map out exact outcomes, but to offer space for reflection and conversation. In the face of accelerating change, this foresight work is designed to support proactive, rather than reactive, approaches to theological education.
